RugbyWA is proud to launch the RugbyWA Boots Project, an initiative designed to eliminate one of the most basic yet significant barriers to participation in sport - access to essential playing gear.
The project provides rugby boots to players experiencing financial hardship or disadvantage, ensuring that every athlete across Western Australia has the opportunity to play safely, confidently, and without limitation. By addressing the cost of entry, the Boots Project helps level the playing field and empowers more young people to experience the benefits of rugby - teamwork, resilience, and belonging.
This initiative has been made possible through the generous seed funding provided by Labrador Petro-Management, whose contribution has enabled RugbyWA to pilot the program and begin distributing boots to junior players in need. Their support underscores the powerful role that business can play in creating equitable access to sport and fostering stronger, more connected communities.
As the program grows, RugbyWA is seeking to expand partnerships with organisations who share a commitment to community impact and inclusion through sport. Businesses interested in supporting the Boots Project will be helping not only to equip players but to build pathways that keep young people active, connected, and engaged in rugby.
Together, we can ensure that no player sits on the sidelines because of financial barriers - and that every child has the chance to step onto the field ready to play.
