Had a rugby clinic at your school and have a passionate flock of future rugby superstars? Integrated rugby union into your curriculum and want to give your students the opportunities to flex their skills?
RugbyWA's School Competitions offer students the opportunity to compete in interschool competition days to continue their rugby development.
RugbyWA School Competitions run with three different rugby formats:
- Rugby 7's
- Rugby XVs
- Tri Tag
The UWA Western Force Cup is a Western Australian public school rugby competition that will see 15 schools across perth compete and grow the game of rugby, thanks to the generous support of Dr Andrew Forrest AO and Nicola Forrest AO.
Rugby 7's is a fun, fast-paced format of rugby, with 7 players on each side and seven-minute halves. One of the growing rugby formats globally, Rugby 7's is a great way to introduce students to competitive rugby. School competitions for Rugby 7's will be hosted in Term 1 - for further information, email our School Competitions team.
Tri Tag Rugby is a minimal contact, low injury risk, attack-based rugby union game that incorporates the skill set and fabric of rugby. Tri Tag school competitions will run in Term 4, and offer a great way to introduce students to the sport of rugby. For further information, email our School Competitions team.
Gala days are an opportunity for all schools to compete at a high-level in either Tri Tag, Rugby 7's or XVs based on each individual schools preference. RugbyWA Development Officers will be able to up-skill students and teachers in both formats of the game prior to competition each term. Enquire with our team for more information.
Rugby became a PSA Sport in 1961, and in 1963 the Rugby cup was renamed the Brother Redmond Cup, in honour of Brother M F Redmond, who was an influential teacher and sports master at Aquinas College over a span of 45 years.
