From the sidelines to the centre of the scrum, women have always been a driving force in Western Australia’s rugby community. Whether coaching juniors at local clubs, leading teams onto national stages, or showing up every weekend as volunteers, supporters, and role models, their impact runs deep.
Women in Rugby Round is more than a weekend on the calendar. It’s a celebration of the people who make the game possible, recognising the women who lead, inspire, and champion rugby across WA, and honouring the broader community that lifts the sport together.
This year’s round brings an added sense of momentum and purpose, as the community comes together to reflect on how far the game has come, and where it’s headed.
At the heart of the celebrations is the Women in Rugby Luncheon, proudly supported by Talent Mining and Minerals, who have come on board as the official event partner. Held at the Rendezvous Hotel Perth Scarborough, the luncheon is a gathering of players, coaches, administrators, business leaders and supporters, all united by a commitment to growing the game and creating more inclusive opportunities.
For Talent Mining and Minerals, backing the Women in Rugby Luncheon is more than sponsorship - it’s about investing in leadership, visibility, and community strength. Their partnership helps spotlight the stories and voices that are shaping the future of rugby in Western Australia, while encouraging broader participation from all walks of life.
For Tegan Larkins, Founder and Director of Talent Mining and Minerals, partnering with RugbyWA for the Women in Rugby Reception offers an opportunity to bridge business with inclusion in rugby.
“I see a strong business benefit in partnering with RugbyWA, particularly through the Women in Rugby Reception, because it aligns with our values of inclusion, leadership, and empowering women in traditionally underrepresented areas. Growing up in New Zealand, rugby was always a part of my life, so I’m personally proud to support the growth of women’s rugby here in WA.”
“I’m really looking forward to connecting with like‑minded leaders and changemakers who are passionate about advancing women in sport and creating more opportunities. I think it would be a great opportunity to chat with anyone considering a career change into mining or the resources sector, and how they can sign up with Talent Mining and Minerals.”
Across the state this round, clubs will mark the occasion in their own way - through jersey presentations, recognition of volunteers, and celebrations of women’s teams, coaches, and officials. But no matter how it's commemorated, one thing is clear: women have always been, and will always be, at the heart of WA rugby.
As we celebrate Women in Rugby Round, we celebrate everyone who makes the game stronger, fairer, and more connected. And with passionate partners like Talent Mining and Minerals standing alongside us, the future of women in rugby looks brighter than ever.
