Women’s Fortescue Premier Grade teams joined clubs across Perth to support the 2026 Belt Up Round, helping reinforce an important message both on and off the field: Belt Up every trip, every time.

Round 7 delivered three closely contested matches, including a one-point thriller and another nail-biter.

Just one point separated the sides as Cottesloe claimed a hard-fought 13-12 victory over Wanneroo. Wanneroo crossed through Petia and Banza, with Kifayatullah adding a conversion. Cottesloe responded through tries from Mountain and Hotene, while a crucial penalty goal from Foster proved the difference in the closing stages.

Southern Lions produced an impressive attacking display to defeat Perth Bayswater 48-17. The Lions ran in eight tries, two each from Wilson and Hunt, with Moore, Tanonef, Watkins and Briggs also scoring, while Ross added four conversions. Bayswater fought hard through tries from Yaksich, Munro and Meade, with Munro also converting one.

Palmyra secured a narrow 22-19 victory over Kalamunda in another entertaining contest. Edward starred for Palmyra with a double, with Rakuita and Ratu also crossed the line. Edwards added a conversion to complete a strong individual performance. Kalamunda stayed within reach through a try from Munro and two from Heke, with Walters converting twice.

Following another exciting weekend of Women's Fortescue Premier Grade action, the spotlight now shifts to Women in Rugby Round, proudly sponsored by The Resources Hub.

The round celebrates the players, coaches, referees, volunteers, administrators and leaders who continue to drive the growth of women's rugby across the state. From grassroots participation through to representative pathways, women and girls are making an impact at every level of the game.

The celebrations will continue on Saturday with a special women's rugby double-header at Tompkins Park. Palmyra will host their Women's Premier Grade fixture before the Western Force Super W take on the NSW Waratahs in a blockbuster clash, showcasing the strength of the women's game from community rugby to the professional stage.

Women in Rugby Round is an opportunity for the rugby community to recognise those helping shape a strong future for the game and inspiring the next generation of players across Western Australia.
