Round 4 of the Men’s Fortescue Premier Grade saw several decisive performances that further shaped the early-season narrative, with ladder contenders beginning to separate themselves through strong attacking displays and disciplined execution.

Nedlands produced a dominant attacking display in a 57-29 win over Palmyra, showcasing depth and cohesion across the park. De Lange was outstanding with a hat-trick, while Fitzgerald, Louwrens, Poi, Anderson, Robson, and Leaupepe also crossed the line. Fitzgerald’s six conversions ensured Nedlands consistently turned pressure into points. Palmyra remained willing to attack, with a try from Lynch and two from Alatini and McCabe, supported by two conversions from Robertson, but were unable to stem Nedlands’ momentum once the match opened up.

UWA produced one of the standout performances of the round, claiming a convincing 32-12 win over Wanneroo. It was a strong statement from UWA, built on control and discipline. Tries from Mitchell, Daly, McEntee-Walters, and Pereira laid the platform, while Young played a pivotal role with the boot, slotting three conversions and two penalty goals. Wanneroo continued to show effort and fight, crossing through Ale and Davis, with Ale converting one, but UWA’s accuracy and composure across the eighty minutes proved decisive.

At the Bull Pen, Kalamunda hosted Perth Bayswater for the Joseph Simpkins Memorial Trophy in a match played with intensity and purpose. Joey Simpkins was a much-loved figure at both clubs, and the contest honoured his lasting impact on the rugby community. Kalamunda edged out Perth Bayswater 29-24 in a hard-fought encounter, with tries from Saulala, Mason, Spina and Kini, with Heuer converting, but Kalamunda’s defensive resolve held firm in the closing stages.

Wests Scarborough secured a 38-22 win over Southern Lions. Wests tries were scored by Wilson, Hutton, McPhee-Hale, Bridges, and Tongotongo. Four conversions were made, including one from Cadzow. Southern Lions scored tries from Tacikalou Naisiroki, Schoonmaker, Fale, and Talivakaola, with Hardwick adding the conversion.

With Round 4 now complete, momentum continues to build across the competition as teams refine combinations and establish their identity heading deeper into the season.
