RugbyWA has launched a new initiative to strengthen community rugby across regional Western Australia - the RugbyWA Regional Club Subsidies Program, designed to remove financial barriers and support the sustainability of rugby in the South West, Mid-West, Goldfields, Great Southern, and surrounding regions.
The program provides direct financial assistance to junior and senior rugby clubs, helping to offset essential costs such as travel, training field hire, jerseys, and partial accommodation. More than just funding, the initiative represents a broader commitment to ensuring that every player, regardless of location, has the opportunity to access quality rugby experiences and pathways.
This commitment to regional growth is further supported by the backing of Fenix Resources, who have come on board as a key contributor to the Mid West region’s subsidies pool. Their support will directly contribute to reducing participation costs for local clubs and players, helping to re-engage the rugby community across Geraldton and surrounding areas. By helping to remove financial barriers and strengthen pathways, this partnership plays an important role in rebuilding participation and driving the long-term sustainability of rugby in the region.
Facilitated through tax-deductible donations to the Rugby Foundation of Western Australia, and supported by local businesses and community partners, the subsidy program makes it easier for regional clubs to access the resources they need. With a simple, transparent application process, the goal is to keep rugby accessible and sustainable for clubs that are the heartbeat of their local communities.
Beyond the practical benefits, the Regional Club Subsidies Program aims to reignite enthusiasm for rugby across Western Australia’s regional centres, helping to grow participation, strengthen local competition, and inspire new players, coaches, and volunteers.
As RugbyWA continues to expand its footprint in regional areas, this initiative demonstrates the power of collaboration between community, business, and the Rugby Foundation of WA. Together, these partnerships are helping to grow the game, support local clubs, and build a stronger, more connected rugby community across the state.
