RugbyWA is pleased to announce the appointment of Jillian McCorkindale and Jane Bond to its Board of Directors.
Prior to the recent AGM that saw Shaun Hardcastle, Peter Malcolm and Justin Shakeshaft elected to the RWA Board, the Nominations Committee conducted a comprehensive Expression of Interest process to identify suitable candidates to fill the appointed roles vacated by Kath Bozanic, Cinzia Donald and Niamh O'Connor.
As part of this process, and in conjunction with the RugbyWA Board, the Committee identified a number of core areas of focus in terms of preferred skills and experience for prospective candidates.
At the conclusion of this process, members of the Nominations Committee, together with Rugby WA CEO Simon Taylor, met with a total of thirteen candidates that possessed a range of skills encompassing Legal, Finance/Corporate and Community Rugby experience.
Following further review between the Committee and the RWA Board, a shortlist of preferred candidates was identified, resulting in the appointment of Jillian McCorkindale and Jane Bond to the RWA Board.
Jillian McCorkindale is a Chartered Accountant and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. A partner at Deloitte, Ms. McCorkindale joined the RugbyWA Audit & Risk Committee earlier this year in an independent role, and was appointed Chairperson of this Committee. Ms. McCorkindale joined the RugbyWA Board of Directors at its May Board meeting.
Jane Bond is a Senior Manager in the resources industry, currently working with South 32, specialising in business performance, Governance, Risk and Compliance. Ms. Bond is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has served on several Boards and Board Committees during her career. A passionate Rugby fan, Ms. Bond is currently on the Board of Kalamunda Rugby Club. Ms. Bond joined the RugbyWA Board of Directors at its May Board meeting, where she was additionally appointed to RugbyWA’s Audit & Risk Committee.
RugbyWA welcomes Ms. McCorkindale and Ms. Bond to the RugbyWA Board, and thanks them for their dedication to the growth and development of Rugby Union in Western Australia.

Their exceptional professional experience in governance, finance, and risk, coupled with a genuine passion for our game, will bring valuable perspectives to the Board.”
In addition, following the May Board Meeting, John Welborn was elected to the position of Chairperson of the RugbyWA Board of Directors, with Josh Aislabie being elected as Vice-Chairperson. With this appointment, Mr. Welborn will step down from his role as Board President.
Ms. McCorkindale and Ms. Bond will join recently elected members, Peter Malcolm and Shaun Hardcastle on the Board of Directors, alongside Justin Shakeshaft, Debby Carley, Mr. Welborn and Mr. Aislabie.
Discussions are ongoing to fill the third vacant appointed Director role with a candidate that fills the Government Relations skill set identified by the Nominations Committee, in addition to an independent member of the Audit & Risk Committee.
