RugbyWA hosted the Grassroots to Global: Women in Rugby Inspiring Change Forum this weekend at WA Rugby Centre, in partnership with ChildFund Rugby and World Rugby.
Designed to bring together leaders within the rugby community, Grassroots to Global helps to drive change and amplify the voices of those changing the game in Western Australian rugby.
Facilitated by Monica Beazley from Monarch Management, the forum was attended by a diverse group of participants, ranging from front row players to coaches, administrators, and members of Judiciary, of various backgrounds, including Australian, Canadian, Fijian and Samoan. The participants engaged in activities designed to build their confidence and leadership skills, in addition to evoke change within the rugby community to shape a bright future for women’s rugby.
Monica Beazley, Forum Facilitator and Founder of Monarch Management, said: “Something powerful happens when women united by a shared purpose come together -and that’s exactly what I witnessed at Saturday’s Grassroots to Global forum. A diverse group of brilliant women gathered to openly share ideas and collaboratively brainstorm solutions to the challenges women face as coaches in rugby.
“It was a privilege to facilitate these conversations and create a safe, supportive space where participants could honestly explore barriers and collectively develop simple yet impactful strategies to make rugby more inclusive. The practical tools and connections forged on the day will strengthen leadership and drive meaningful growth across the game.”
Grassroots to Global is part of a Global Social Impact Partnership between ChildFund Rugby and World Rugby. It is a flagship programme, hosted across 30 countries that brings together female community leaders from across the world to build their networks and drive social change through rugby.
RugbyWA General Manager – Community, Sarah du Plessis, said: “RugbyWA was thrilled to host the Grassroots to Global forum here in Western Australia. It was an incredible opportunity to bring together grassroots local leaders to spark positive change and shape state and global action plans for the growth of women’s rugby.
“We’re so thankful to Monica Beazley for faciliating the event, providing our leaders with incredible knowledge that will feed back into the continued growth of the game here in Western Australia.”
RugbyWA would also like to thank Mara Rennie from the British Consulate, for presenting certificates to all participants on the day.
One representative from the forum will soon be invited to travel to Grassroots to Global Connect, an international conference for Grassroots to Global leaders from around the world, held in conjunction with the opening match of Rugby World Cup 2025 in Sunderland, England.
