Round 10 of the Fortescue Women’s Premier Grade saw some big wins, with powerhouse performances and big matchups seeing the best of WA’s women’s competition out in full force.

The usual suspects are out and about tearing it up in the Fortescue Women’s Premier Grade, with Wanneroo and Kalamunda both walking away with big wins over the weekend, while up-and-coming sides, Wests Scarborough and Palmyra went head-to-head in a clash of their growing high performers.

Kalamunda met UWA this weekend at McGillivray Oval, where they saw a 51-point victory over the home side. In a dominant display of try-scoring excellence, eleven tries were scored by the Kweenz to see them walk away with their sixth win of the 2025 season. While not UWA’s day, the side still put one try past Kalamunda’s impressive defensive line, in addition to one conversion and one penalty goal, keeping them on the board despite impressive efforts from Kalamunda. The final score of the match saw UWA, 10, defeated by Kalamunda, 61.

Tries for the Kweens were scored by Zakiya Kereopa (8’, 40’), Mackenzie Baker (13’), Nicole Ledington (16’), Crytal Walters (22’, 42), Heather Matoe (27’), Braxton Walker (31’, 36), Terehia Cooper (48’) and Libya Teepa (52’). Conversions were completed by Ledington (23’) and Teepa (37’, 41’).

Further North at Kingsway Regional Sporting Complex, the Wanneroo Divaz came against Southern Lions, seeing a victory over the new side of 50-5. It was a big weekend of young excellence from Wanneroo, with young guns and pathways graduates crossing the line in a show of the growing talent coming out of Wanneroo. Despite the tough competition, Southern Lioness’ Nicole Ross put one try on the board for her side, proving her strength and skill despite the tough competition.

Tries for Wanneroo were scored by Ocean Tuhua (2), Shiane Kani, Nami Dickson (2), Topaz-Jean Porter, Georgia Waby and Ngamihi Monk, with conversions from Ai Dickson (4) and Teiana Mainwaring.

Tough competition down at Bennett Park saw Wests Scarborough come off second best to Palmyra, with a hat trick from Melehifo Allana Sikimeti putting Palmyra in a favourable position against an up-and-coming Wests side. With a final score of 17-31, it was a big game for two strong sides, with Palmyra making a big impact early in the game to put Wests Scarborough off their path of solid performances.

Sikimeti’s tries for Palmyra (7’, 36’, 41’) were also joined by two from Riley Smith (65’, 72’), and three conversions from Kendra Fell (7’, 65’, 72’) to secure the win. For Wests Scarborough, tries were scroed by Kalley Derera, Brookln Joyce and Dianne Hiini, with one conversion from Bella Houghton.

Round 11 will see the Fortescue Premier Grade return this weekend, with Mental Health Round being celebrated. Mental Health Round 2025 is in partnership with Think Mental Health, and their 'Find Your Way to Okay' campaign.

The ‘Find Your Way to Okay’ campaign acknowledges the unique circumstances and challenges experienced by young adults in Western Australia, and provides practical, evidenced-informed strategies to gain and maintain mental health and wellbeing. It acknowledges that we are all different and validates the process of exploring to find what works for you.

Life can be hard sometimes. It’s not your fault and there’s not much you can do about the things beyond your control. But there’s a heap of little things you can do to maintain your emotional strength. Little tactics that bring calm, steady the way and help you feel okay day-to-day. We are all different, and the things that work for others may be different to the things that work for you. Take the time to explore and experiment, until you find what works for you. Find your way to okay.
