The Fortescue Women’s Premier Grade entered its fourth round this weekend, battling the rain for some big results.

The competition is heating up in the Fortescue Women’s Premier Grade, as teams grow stronger and rivalries get hotter.

This week, all eyes were on Wests Scarborough and Wanneroo, as they entered a rematch of their 2024 Semi Final. Both sides are seeing players who have come through the junior girls' pathways entering the top grade for the first time this season, with young guns Teiana Mainwaring and Bella Houghton lighting up the field. However, despite Wests proving to perhaps be their best contenders for the 2025 season, the reigning Premiers continue to dominate the competition, defeating their competition 5-36. Strong performances from Frieda Ah-Sam and Sofaia Talemaira, alongside Mainwaring, kept the side dominant, claiming victory from the up-and-coming Wests.

Tries for Wanneroo Divaz were scored by Ah-Sam (2), Majesty Pomare, Sera Ah-sam, Ai Dickson and Mainwaring. Three conversions were completed by Terina Te Tana. Wests Scarborough saw one try from Dianne Hiini to get them on the board.

The return of Western Force SuperW legends helped see Kalamunda secure their first win of the 2025 season, with a 67-0 victory over UWA at home. Samantha Wood and Nicole Ledington returned to the fold this week, alongside captain Hera-Barb Malcolm Heke, Libya Teepa and Braxton Walker, creating a dominant force to be reckoned with. Nari Little, Mahiti Heke and Walker all saw doubles this weekend, with Ledington and Wood securing seven tries between them. Still a developing side, it was a tough battle for UWA, who are still searching for their first win of 2025.

Tries for Kalamunda Kweenz were scored by Little (3’, 45’), Wood (11’), Malcom Heke (18’), Teepa (22’), Walker (27’, 41’), Sophie Foster (31’), Ledington (48’) and Heke (50’, 68’). Conversions were completed by Ledington (4’, 11’ 45’ 51’) and Wood (28’, 32’).

This weekend will see a competition-wide bye for all grades, before returning on June 7, 2025.
