The final round of the regular season. The last chance to qualify for finals.
The Fortescue Women’s Premier Grade saw its final round of the 2025 season on Saturday, with teams giving it their all to secure their place in the Finals Series. Under sunny skies, the Senior Women’s competition took to the field for one last time in the regular season, putting in big performances to close of the season.
Palmyra put on a big show against Southern Lions to solidify their place in the Finals series, overpowering the newer side 41-0. The side struck early, with Awhina Heke socring the match’s first try in the 3rd minute, putting the side on the scoreboard in an early show of their dominance. With Southern Lions putting up a strong defensive performance, Palmyra were too good, crossing the line six times, in addition to a team try.
Tries for Palmyra were scored by Heke (3’), Riley Smith (17’, 62’), Penny Laufman (35’), Huia Swannell (40’) and Mercedes Putz (53’), with three conversions for Kendra Fell (18’, 40’, 54’).
Up at Kingsway Reserve, Wanneroo put on one last stellar performance for the regular season, defeating Cottesloe 37-7 at home. With a giant 2025 season, Wanneroo saw incredible performances for their final match, with Topaz-Jean Porter, Ocean Tuhua and Nami Dickson all crossing the line twice throughout the game. Despite coming up against one of the best teams in the competition, Cottesloe held on strong, with Sophie Hart scoring against the side, keeping the Shegulls in the game.
Tries for Wanneroo were scored by Porter, Tuhua, Dickson and Western Force legend, Tamika Jones, with one conversion completed by Kylah-Rey Tuheke Kupa. For Cottesloe, one try was scored by Hart, with a conversion from Jessica Foster.
A phenomenal season, Semi Finals will see some tough competition. Palmyra will face Wanneroo after their dual wins securing their positions as fourth and first on the calendar, respectively. Wests Scarborough, having an unexpected week off due to a forfeit, will tackle the Kalamunda Kweenz at Sir Charles Court Reserve, to secure their place in the Grand Final in two weeks time.
