The Fortescue Men’s Premier Grade has reached its thirteenth round.

With just four matches left to fight for a place in the final rounds, the competition is getting tight across the board.

Set to be the stars of this weekend’s Stan stream, Nedlands are looking to show their skills as they look to retain their place in the top three of Conference A.

Coming off a Round 12 win against Associates, Nedlands is in a good position. With Associates just two points below them on Conference A’s ladder, it was a vital win for Nedlands as they look to secure a place in the finals.

Finishing the game with a victory of 19-66, tries for Nedlands were scored by Chris Raymond (8’), Ryan Louwrens (22’), Jack Curtis (27’, 48’), Livai Vota (36’), James Petherick (42’), Jacob McKellar (54’, 66’), Tom Sheminant (56’) and one other (62’). Matty Lansdown completed eight conversions for the side (8’, 22’, 36’, 48’, 54’, 56’, 62’, 66’). For Associates, tries were scored by Nick Johns, Scott Tolmie, Joakim Larsson, with conversions by Cristiano Tizzano and Scott Tolmie.

In Round 13, Nedlands are set to take on Wests Scarborough, who saw a tight, two-point loss to Perth Bayswater last weekend. Now sitting at sixth place on Conference A’s ladder, Wests will be searching for a win to keep them in the finals competition.

It was the difference of a single conversion in the scoring between Wests and Perth Bayswater, seeing the game finish 20-18 at Pat O’Hara Reserve during Bayswater’s NAIDOC celebrations.

Tries for Wests were scored by Simione Vuetiverata (13’) and Tom Welsh (39’), with a conversion (14’) and two penalties (16’, 43’) from Kauri Tipene-Grace. For Perth Bayswater, tries were scored by Simon Hrbek (35’) and Benjamin Buist (70’). Both conversions were scored by Hrbek (35’, 70’), and well as one of the two penalties (50’), with Reesjan Pasitoa taking the other (76’).

The last time Nedlands met Wests Scarborough this season, it was a tight race at Bennett Park, with just a singular point separating the two sides. With Wests Scarborough finishing on top in the Round 5 clash, they’ll be looking for a repeat this Saturday as they take on Nedlands at their home ground.

Round 13’s Nedlands v. Wests Scarborough clash is set to kick off at 3:30PM at Sir Charles Court Reserve and will be streamed live on Stan.

In Conference B of the Fortescue Men's Premier Grade, top-placed UWA are set to take on second-placed Southern Lions at McGillivray Oval.

Both coming off tight wins, it’s set to be a close match as the sides meet for the second time since Round 8. In Round 8, Southern Lions triumphed over UWA with a 66-24 win at home – something they’ll be aiming to achieve once again in Round 13.

Last weekend, UWA saw a 2-point victory over Kalamunda, after the other side saw their biggest victory this season in their Round 10 demolition of UWA. In UWA’s run for revenge, it was four penalties from Caleb Young (29’, 49’, 55’, 80’) that truly kept the side alive, finishing the game with two less tries than Kalamunda, but the win. Tries for UWA were scored by Vilive Sawalu (3’), Thomas Anderson (17’), Carlo Tizzano (61’) and one other (35’). Caleb Young also completed three conversions for the side (3’, 17’, 35’).

For Kalamunda, tries were scored by Norman Tapara (42’), Evan Jordan (62’) and Malachi Te Muunu (80’), in addition to three tries from unnamed players (28’, 47’, 73’). Conversions were completed by Evan Jordan 929’) and Malachi Te Muunu (74’, 80’).

In the northern suburbs, at Kingsway Sports Complex, Southern Lions saw a 28-31 win over Wanneroo. Away from home, Southern Lions saw tries from Tashir Newsome-Smith, Kameli Tacikalou Naisiroki (2) and Joel Lamatoa, with a conversion and two penalties from Saimoni Qaranivalu, and an additional penalty from Joel Lamatoa. From Wanneroo, tries were scored by Brodie Mainwaring, Jehmial Ross (22’), Brayden Karangaroa (29’), Ammaru Iti (53’) and Matty Stewart (80’), with one penalty from Baptiste Roucan (37’).

With but five points separating the sides, the matchup between UWA and Southern Lions is set to be a tough one. Playing at McGillivray Oval, UWA v. Southern Lions is set to kick off at 3:30PM.

In the Championship Grade, it’s set to be a Southern clubs battle between Bunbury Barbarians and Kwinana Wolves this weekend.

Having not played each other since Round 1 of the competition, Bunbury will be looking to get the win back in their court, after losing 27-7 to Kwinana previously. Entering Round 12, they will be coming off the back of a loss to another Southern club, Mandurah Pirates, and searching for a win.

In their close, 11-13 battle with Mandurah Pirates Blue at Leschenault Leisure Centre, Bunbury saw one try and two penalties, whilst Mandurah saw two tries and one penalty to secure the win. Penalties for Bunbury were scored by Aidan Hanna, with the try by an unnamed player. Tries for Mandurah were scored by Ashib Leota (58’) and one other (48’), with a penalty from Joshua Kennedy (5’).

For Kwinana, a win over Mandurah Pirates White sets the tone as they enter Round 12. Finishing 29-21, Kwinana scored five tries and two conversions, whilst Mandurah scored three tries, scored by Ben Tumoana (22’), Wynton Taia (48’) and Kenneth Pereka (58’), and three conversions, from Aaron Ruru (23’, 49’, 59’).

Kwinana Wolves and Bunbury Barbarians are set to meet at Leschenault Leisure Centre on Saturday for their Round 12 clash. Kickoff is set for 3:00PM.
