Bunbury Barbarians are set to host a swarm of junior rugby legends this Saturday and Sunday for the Bunbury Junior NAIDOC 7’s.

Kicking off at 9:00AM, junior players from throughout Western Australia are set to travel down to Australind to celebrate NAIDOC Week. The tournament will be held at Leschenault Leisure Centre in Australind, home of the Bunbury Barbarians.

Players ranging from Under 8’s through to Under 13’s will take to the field as they compete for the Cup Championship, as well as the Plaque Championship Runner Up MVP and MVP.

All teams are set to sport Noongar language team names, to honour the lands they live, train and play on. These teams include North Coast Kwilas, Barbarian Karla (Bunbury), Gynning (Ellenbrook), Joondalup Ngoonee, Yonga Dogs (Wanneroo), Gargangara Boodja Arks, Mandjoogoordap (Mandurah), Wooditijup Bilya Carbern (Margaret River) and South West Waugal.

A celebration of the Wardandi people and the land, players and spectators will have the opportunity to participate in NAIDOC activities, as well as engage with local Southwestern businesses. Western Force players will also be in attendance at the tournament, heading down to Leschenault Leisure Centre on Sunday from 9:00AM.

The Bunbury Barbarians Junior Rugby Union Club and RugbyWA acknowledges the Wardandi people as the custodians of this beautiful country and their continuing connection to land, waters and community. We pay our respects to all members of the Aboriginal communities and their cultures, and to Elder’s past, present & emerging.
