Round 2 of the Women’s Fortescue Premier Grade saw teams stamp their authority early, while others showed encouraging signs of growth and resilience as the season continues to take shape.

Wanneroo delivered a polished performance to secure a 38-0 win over Southern Lions, running in six tries in a dominant display. Petia impressed on debut with two classy tries, while Tuapola, Kereopa, Morris-Viti, and Te Tana also crossed the line. Te Tana added four conversions to round out a strong all-round performance. Despite the scoreline, Southern Lions shower clear improvement, playing a tough and honest brand of rugby throughout. Nimo stood out with a strong individual performance, highlighting the growing potential within the squad as they continue to build.

Kalamunda continued their strong seasons start with a convincing 34-3 victory over Palmyra, showcasing the experience and cohesion within their squad. Tries from Harlick, Heke, Kereopa, Foster, and Ruru-Hinaki underpinned a dominant attacking effort, with Anderson adding two conversions. Palmyra managed to get on the board through a penalty goal from Edwards but struggled to contain Kalamunda’s structure and consistency across the park. Kala’s experience is proving a key factor as they establish themselves as a formidable outfit early in the season.

In the closest contest of the round, Cottesloe edged Wests Scarborough 13-10 in a tightly fought match that doubled as the Challenge Cup Final. Tries form Mountain and Sesega, along with a conversion from Bell, proved enough to get Cottesloe over the line. Wests pushed them all the way, with tries scored by Knight and MacAskill keeping the result in the balance until the final stages. Garner was a standout for Wests, making a significant impact in both attack and defence in a strong individual performance despite the narrow loss.

A round defined by both dominant wins and competitive contests, with Wanneroo and Kalamunda setting the pace while Cottesloe claimed silverware in a hard-fought Challenge Cup clash. Don’t miss Round 3 this weekend, with all games available on Rugby Xplorer.
