With just one round remaining before the quarter-finals, the race for finals football is heating up. Round 15 also marked Mental Health Round, with clubs across the competition helping raise awareness of the importance of mental wellbeing while serving up a weekend of thrilling rugby.
Southern Lions edged Perth Bayswater 20–15 in a tight contest. Vea and Pulu crossed for Perth Bayswater, with Heuer adding a conversion and Koiatu a penalty goal. Southern Lions answered with tries to Turagava, Leef and Dussargues to secure the five-point win.
Wests Scarborough held on against Kalamunda, winning 24–21 in another close one. Bridges, Raudon, Hulme and Wilson all crossed for Wests, with Pinker converting twice. Kalamunda fought back through Trefery, Kamizona-Heke and Toki, while Jordan added three conversions.
Wanneroo put on an attacking masterclass against UWA, running out 55–27 winners. Taoipu, Saumaki, Grattan, Ale, Davis and Preketes all got on the scoresheet, with Saumaki and Grattan crossing twice each. Mainwaring was also in fine form, kicking six conversions and a penalty goal. UWA responded through McEntee-Walters, who scored twice, alongside Mahood, Mitchell and Merritt, with Young adding a conversion.
Cottesloe continued their strong form with a 48–26 win over Associates. Hunt, Winters, Bevin, Robinson, Mancebo and Ward all crossed for Cottesloe, with Winters scoring a hat-trick. Verdon and Robinson handled the conversions, with Robinson adding three. Associates hit back through Faoagali, Phillips, who scored twice, and McGinnity, with Drummond converting three times.
And in the thriller of the round, Palmyra held off Nedlands 53–50 in a seven-try-a-side shootout. Palmyra’s points came through Leilua, Nepia, Bailey, Morgan and Eden, with Nepia and Morgan both crossing twice. Robertson was clinical from the tee, adding six conversions and two penalty goals.
Nedlands pushed them all the way, with Cakobau scoring a hat-trick, alongside tries to Marshall, De Lange, Gosse and Pschorn. Gosse crossed twice, while Boyd added five conversions.
With just one round remaining before the quarter-finals, every result counts. The finals picture is taking shape — and there’s still plenty to play for.
