It was an action packed weekend of Junior rugby which saw a number of Junior clubs take home premiership wins following their successful efforts in not only the final game but throughout the season.

Junior girls kicked off the weekend on the Friday night at Wanneroo Rugby Club where spectators watched on at some amazing WA female talent. Wests Scarborough were a dominant force as we saw two of their teams headed into the finals in the U14 and U17’s division.

Wanneroo U14’s went on to defend their home ground and were able to grasp the win over Wests Scarborough in a dominant attacking match.

Wests Scarborough made a strong comeback as they made big moves against the ARK’s U17’s team in a nail-biting game under the lights at Kingsway. The game saw a number of talented players showcase their skill.

“It was fantastic to see the next generation of female rugby players coming through and competing and playing at such a high level”. Female Game Manager, Jason Marrable stated.

“It is great to see the girls enjoying their rugby and I was really impressed with the speed of play and skills on show”.

“There is a lot to look forward to in Women’s Rugby in WA and we are all really excited to see this new generation of players continue through our system,” Marrable added.

That isn’t the end of the rugby season for the junior girls. The U17 will play the regional state championship on Friday the 15th at Wanneroo Rugby Club where the best players from the North and South will compete for a spot in the RugbyWA U17 state team.

The next day of action was at Rockingham Rugby Club where Junior teams continued to show off everything that they had worked so hard for during the season.

Although the weather began to storm, it didn’t hold back players as we saw premiership wins from a range of our WA clubs.

RugbyWA would like to thank Wanneroo and Rockingham Rugby Club for producing and hosting an excellent Grand Finals weekend that was a highlight end to the 2021 Junior season.
