Dr Andrew Forrest AO and wife Nicola Forrest AO have today been confirmed as lifelong patrons of Rugby WA.

Rugby WA chief executive Nathan Charles said Andrew and Nicola were revered members of Western Australia’s rugby community through their significant contribution to the game here in the west.

“Without the support of Andrew and Nicola the future of rugby union in Western Australia would look much gloomier than it does right now,” Charles said.

“The support Andrew and Nicola have provided our sport in its darkest hours has been critical in our re-emergence and we are thrilled that both have accepted lifelong patronage in recognition of their invaluable contribution.”

Charles said Andrew and Nicola embodied the NEGU (Never Ever Give Up) philosophy and were driven by a strong set of values, including family, courage and determination.

“These values guide Andrew and Nicola’s investment in the growth of the game of rugby and the pursuit of building from the grassroots up,” Charles said.

“Rugby WA is growing and fostering the game of rugby in WA and we thank Andrew and Nicola for their commitment and love of the sport.”

In a joint statement, Andrew and Nicola said they were honoured to accept lifelong patronage of Rugby WA.

“Our goal is to build and support our passionate rugby community – the young players, the mums and dads, the schools, the clubs, the volunteers – and make Western Australia a true rugby heartland,” the Forrests said.

“We plan to make this a great rugby State, a real powerhouse, with far more locally grown players.

“Our ultimate dream is to see West Australian boys and girls of all backgrounds choose rugby as their preferred sport. We know that once they’ve had a taste they’ll never leave.”
