The Rendezvous Hotel Perth Scarborough Women’s Challenge Cup wrapped up this weekend, with Wanneroo Divaz taking victory in the inaugural competition.

After two preseason rounds, the Rendezvous Hotel Perth Scarborough Women’s Challenge Cup saw Wanneroo Divaz come head-to-head with the Cottesloe Shegulls at Harvey Field on Saturday, as they clashed for the inaugural title.

Wanneroo came out of the gate strong, with their first try in the fifth minute from Zion Taurima following a strong breakaway. The following conversion from Terina Te Tana marked her first conversion of the day, with two more to follow.

Cottesloe followed up with their first try of the game nine minutes later, with Jessica Harvie scoring her first of two for the game from the wing. Wanneroo responded in quick succession, with young gun Teiana Mainwaring scoring her first of the day.

In what continued to be a strong performance for Wanneroo, they ran away with the win, dominating Cottesloe when it mattered most. The home side struggled against the 2024 Premiers, with Jessica Harvie scoring a second in the first half, followed by Gabby Muir and Bri Wallace scoring a try each in the second half, with no successful conversions.

From Wanneroo, Mainwaring went on to score a hat-trick for the Divaz, with Taurima scoring a second try, and hooker Kuini Nama scoring one as well. Te Tana completed three conversions for the side, as well as one conversion from Ai Dickson, and one from Zarna Munro to secure the side’s win.

With a final score of 40-20, Wanneroo Divaz were crowned the inaugural Rendezvous Hotel Perth Scarborough Women’s Challenge Cup Winners, taking home yet another trophy for their growing cabinet.
