WA Fortescue Premier Grade players have been turning up the heat on the field as we recap on who made this weeks Team of the Week.
Take a look at who stood out during round 6.
1. Max Veech - Perth Bayswater
Veech’s form has been building steadily throughout the season. His dynamic running game and high work rate helped provide some go-forward for the Numbats in their hard fought win over the Cavs.
2. Dante Tatafu - Perth Bayswater
Tatafu’s season just keeps getting better. Again, his physicality in all contact elements of the game was head and shoulders above every other player on the field.
3. Chris Kidd - Wests Scarborough
Another standout performance for the veteran prop. His execution of an all-round game was exactly what the Boars needed in their tight tussle with Palmyra.
4. Aidan Lee - Nedlands
Its two weeks in a row for the big aggressive lock from the foreshore. His hard running split the Soaks defence on multiple occasions and put Nedlands on the front foot.
5. Liam Mews - Wests Scarborough
Mews’ break-out season continues. His aggressiveness with his ball carry out wide adds a whole new dimension to the Boars’ attack.
6. Sioeli Tupou - Kalamunda
Tupou put in one of his trade-mark performances as he continually rebuilds after season ending injuries. The flanker is filling a hole in the lock position at the moment, but losing none of his high work rate in the process.
7. Cohen Mason - Cottesloe
Cottesloe showed there is still life in the 3-peat dream and Mason is the one keeping it alive. His class in both attack and defence is a few levels above the others on the field.
8. Otunuku Pauta - Perth Bayswater
The new boy in town for Baysie is very quickly putting himself on the Perth Gold radar. Not only working hard in attack and defence, he’s also taking the bulk of the load at lineout time too.
9. Joseph Simpkins - Kalamunda
The forced positional change was embraced by the utility back with a standout performance on Saturday. Not just content with directing traffic, Simpkins made several clean breaks at the edge of the ruck.
10. Ben Meredith - Cottesloe
A huge positional change by coach Westaway brought the gulls star back right into the thick of things on the weekend. Meredith’s flat passing at proved to be a headache for the Brothers’ defence.
11. Kauri Cudd - Nedlands
A high involvement game from the dynamo back from Nedlands kept the Soaks defence under pressure. Cudd’ ability to bounce out of the first tackle was positive for the Nedlands momentum.
12. Caleb Young - UWA
In a game that could have been very messy, Young held the Students’ attack together very well. He kicked in behind the line early and released his outside backs later in the game when the space was there.
13. Jordan Gratton - Wanneroo
Mr consistency for the roodogs over the last couple of seasons. Not only can he break a first up tackle, Gratton is a master of slipping a short pass into a hole.
14. Byron Sharwood - UWA
Sharwood had a field day in UWA’s drubbing of ARKs on Saturday. His support play on line breaks helped his side’s conversion of pressure into points.
15. Jeremy Wallace - Wanneroo
In a match that was set up for the outside backs, Wallace delivered. His speed gets him through the tightest of holes and his support play finishes line breaks.
