Joondalup Brothers have announced that Josh Wells will take the role of Premier Grade captain for the 2021 Fortescue Premier Grade season.

Wells has had a long lineage at Joondalup joining as a junior to play ten seasons before graduating to the senior ranks.

Previously in leadership roles with the club’s colts and reserve grade sides, Wells was an obvious pick for position showing dedication and loyalty to the club for a number of years.

Wells was voted in by his teammates to lead the side, after spending time in Premier Grade last season however was set back by injury to eventually captain Joondalup’s very successful FMG Reserve Grade side.

Proud of Well’s achievement Joondalup Senior President Anthony Wall put his faith in the selection knowing the Joondalup ‘lifer’ will lead the club with pride.

“His promotion to lead our Premier Grade was a natural progression and as a club we should all be proud that yet again we have seen the success and clear progression of our junior pathway,” Wall said.

The appointment was a huge step for Wells as he takes another step in his rugby career looking to find success with the new Joondalup side.

“It’s an absolute honour to be appointed captain and to know I’ve got the boys trust and support behind me,” Wells said.

“We have some amazing people around us and a fantastic group of supporters that we want to make proud.

“We are all really excited about what’s ahead and are looking forward to getting back onto the field.” Josh said.

Wells will be joined by Vice Captain Ryan King who also had a breakout year in 2020 alongside Maikali Robaro, Daniel James, Matt Holland and Johan Louw who form the 2021 Joondalup leadership group.
