The Western Force is proud to announce that four Fortescue Academy players have been selected for the Junior Wallabies training camp set to be held on the Gold Coast this month.
Last week’s announcement saw Scrumhalf Reece Anapu (Palmyra), number eight Alex Masibaka (Associates) and lock Connor Seve (Wests Scarborough) all named in the seven-day camp, which is set to commence on March 14.
Lock Luke Callan (Wanneroo), brother of Force flanker Ollie, has also been called up to the first training camp to make it four Fortescue Academy players taking part.
Selection is just reward for their hard work within the Western Force Fortescue Academy program as they continue to develop through the pathway under the guidance of Academy Head Coach Dylan Parsons.
“It’s extremely pleasing to see these four young players recognised at the national level. With a disrupted 2020, their selection was based on notable performances within the academy program, in Premier Grade and previous national tournaments,” Parsons explained.
“They are all developing an understanding of the standards required to be consistent with their quality in each session, week in and week out. The previous work done through the RugbyWA programs and now through the Western Force Academy have set them up well to display their qualities to Nathan Grey and the national selectors.”
Masibaka, who has represented WA at all representative levels, as well as Australia Under 18’s, is excited for the opportunity to link up with the country’s brightest young talents and is determined to use his previous Junior Wallabies experience at the camp.
“It’s a great honour to represent WA and my family on the national stage,” Masibaka said.
“I want to learn as much as possible and prove myself at that level.”
Fortescue Academy player Sifa Amone and RugbyWA Emerging Pathway player Jhy Legg have also been named as shadow players for the training camp and will be called upon if injuries occur.
