Six Western Force and RugbyWA Senior Academy players have been called up for the Junior Wallabies camp taking place at the Australian Institute of Sports.

Byron Ralston, Grason Makara, Jackson Pugh, Ollie Callan, Reece Anapu and Alex Masibaka have all been earmarked to attend the camp which will identify the next generation of Australian rugby talent heading into the 2020 World Rugby under-20 Championship held in Italy.

Having swapped Queensland Premier rugby to play for the Force in the National Rugby Championship earlier in the season, Byron Ralston caps off a stunning year with his camp selection. The 19-year old finished second on the NRC try-scoring charts, and will be hoping to take his outstanding form into the representative camp and showcase his ability to national selectors.

Wanneroo product Grason Makara graduated from the Future Force at the beginning of the season and spent the season playing and training with the Force in their victorious NRC campaign. Having played against the Tongan World Cup side for the Force, Makara will look to continue his rapid development at the camp.

Ollie Callan featured for the Force in their final Global Rapid Rugby game against the Malaysia Valke and captained the RugbyWA Under-19 side in the Under-19 Championship earlier in the year.

Both Callan and Jackson Pugh have spent extended time with the Force throughout the NRC season and their selection is a reward for impressive performances for RugbyWA in the domestic Under-19 competition.

The young tyros will be hoping to use their camp experience as a springboard into their first professional season with the Force.

Australian schoolboys representative Masibaka will add to his international experience for the season having been a part of a historic victory against the New Zealand schoolboys in October.

The much-hyped schoolboy will join fellow Academy player Reece Anapu in using the camp to gain valuable experience for their future development.

Junior Wallabies Head Coach Jason Gilmore said: “We’re excited to kick off our campaign in 2020 and get together as a group.

“There are a handful of players who are unavailable for selection due to Super Rugby trials, which gives us the opportunity to have a look at some more players.

The Camp One Squad has assembled today in Canberra.
