RugbyWA’s was nominated for the 2024 WADSA Community Service Provider Award for their growing All Abilities Rugby program.
The Western Australia Disabled Sports Association (WADSA) empowers people living with a disability through meaningful participation in sport, recreation and a range of fun disability services across WA.
Despite not receiving the award at the WADSA Annual Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, September 17, RugbyWA was honoured to be nominated for their work in the All Abilities Rugby space.
RugbyWA’s All Abilities program features three amazing teams at Southern Lions, Perth Bayswater and Wanneroo Rugby Clubs, offering participants an inclusive club environment where everyone can relish the experience of playing rugby while forging lifelong friendships. All Abilities Rugby is safe and enjoyable, accommodating mixed abilities and experience levels, and is tailored for individuals with intellectual or physical disabilities.
“RugbyWA is incredibly proud of our All Abilities program,” Inclusion Coordinator, Ashley Munrowd-Harris, said.
“Rugby is a fiercely inclusive sport, and we are thrilled to work with local clubs to provide the opportunity for those with physical and intellectual disabilities to get involved in our sport.”
“We are looking forward to continue growing our All Abilities program and provide more opportunities for all to get involved in the game we love.”
The All Abilities Rugby season has concluded for 2024, however RugbyWA will be running two Rugby Beyond Limits clinics on the 17th of October at Curtin University and the 24th of October at Wanneroo Rugby Club. The All Abilities Rugby season will return in 2025 at Southern Lions, Perth Bayswater and Wanneroo.
