Round 9 of the Senior Women’s competition played out this weekend, with some tight score lines and big performances keeping the game on its toes.
With some of the biggest names in the local game off playing for the Wallaroos, the Fortescue Women’s Premier Grade was a hot watch this weekend, with the competition proving to be a tough one.
It was a conversion that saw the difference in score between Cottesloe and Wests Scarborough, in one of the tightest matches so far in 2025. A home game for the Shegulls, the side brought their all against one of the strongest teams in the Fortescue Women’s Premier Grade competition, locking them down in a strong defensive effort. However, it was one completed conversion that gave Wests Scarborough the winning edge, pushing past the Shegulls to secure their fourth win of the season. The final score saw home side, Cottesloe, 24, defeated by Wests Scarborough, 26.
Tries for Wests Scarborough were scored by Roimata Toa, Dianne Hiini, Tizanae Kovacs and Sera Naiqama, with two conversions by Hiini, and one conversion from Bella Houghton. For Cottesloe, tries were scored by Jessica Harvie, Kristi Kerr (2) and Mollie Wallace, with two conversions from Georgia Cormick.
Wanneroo and Palmyra will face off at Tompkins Park on Tuesday, July 15, wrapping up Round 9 of the Fortescue Women’s Premier Grade.
In the Women’s Community Grade, an impressive effort from Willow Leach saw Rockingham dominate Perth Irish at Centenary Park, with a final score of 5-52. In one of the most impressive try-scoring efforts of the 2025 season, Leach put six tries past the line, an insane 30-points worth of effort in a dominant game. Assisted by Chelsea Finnerty, Cheyenne Campbell and Keera Hayward, who scored two tries and one conversion, Rockingham were unbeatable, despite their limited number of players available.
For Perth Irish, Laura Waters saw an incredible solo run to put the side on the board, scoring their only try for the tough match.
