NAIDOC Round saw rugby return with a bang, following a week off in celebration of the British & Irish Lions.

NAIDOC Round provides the opportunity to celebrate the longest living continuous culture on earth – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. With NAIDOC Week commencing on Sunday, July 7, 2025, NAIDOC Round is an acknowledgement of the history, culture and achievements of First Nations people, and their continuous contribution to our sport and our nation.

RugbyWA would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which we operate, and pays our respects to Elders Past, Present and Future, and stand with all First Nations Australians on the journey towards reconciliation. RugbyWA is located on Noongar land, and has affiliated clubs across Whadjuk, Pinjarup, Wardandi, Bibbulman, Minang, Kaniyang, Wugjari, Amangu and Wangkathaa lands.

Live on Stan, Cottesloe saw a big win over Kalamunda at Hartfield Park in the Fortescue Premier Grade. Earning their ninth win of the season, Cottesloe was dominant against the home side, with seven tries and five conversions. An early red card put a dent in Kalamunda’s strong front, but that didn't stop the side securing an early lead, with two penalty goals. Cottesloe responded in the ninteenth minute with the first try of the game, before putting in the work to secure their dominance throughout the match. The final score saw Kalamunda, 18, defeated by Cottesloe, 45.

Further North at Kingsway Reserve, Wanneroo saw an upset win over 2024 Fortescue Premier Grade Premiers, Associates, as they continue to cement themselves as a side to look out for, as the competition inches closer to finals. Luke Ale for Wanneroo proved to be a points-scoring machine, crossing the line twice, in addition to completing two conversions and one penalty. A tough match up for Associates, it was Wanneroo’s strong performance that gave them the victory, despite the tough challenger. The final score saw Wanneroo, 27, defeat Associates, 19.

Tries for Wanneroo were scored by Ale (4’, 9’), Stirling MacDonald (60’) and Brayden Karangaroa (65’), with two conversions (9’, 65’) and one penalty (19’) scored by Ale. For Associates, tries were scored by Sam Meecham and Sam Faoagali (2), with two conversions by Justin Landman.

Round 12 will see the competition split into Conference A and B for the Fortescue Premier Grade, Reserve Grade and Third Grade. Conference positions are determined by the final placings from the year prior, with the RugbyWA Finals Series provides a way for teams to move between conferences. Teams will play within their Conferences for the remainder of the season, before meeting in the Semi-Finals, to determine who will head to the 2025 Grand Final.
