RugbyWA Staff Update – New Appointments Made

RugbyWA is pleased to announce the appointment of Sarah Jackson as Commercial Partnerships Manager, Liz Fotiou as Customer Experience & Brand Manager, and Oliver Line as Logistics Coordinator. 

The appointments align with the organisation’s purpose to inspire community connection, drive passionate involvement, and unite Western Australians on and off the field, and will help deliver its goals of one rugby alignment and maximise the opportunities of the golden decade for rugby in Australia. 

 

Sarah Jackson brings an extensive resume to RugbyWA, spanning corporate, community and education. Most recently, Sarah held the role of Head of Strategic Partnerships at Murdoch University, as well as working in strategic partnerships in the mining services sector. Before this, she held several roles at BankWest, including senior management roles in Strategic Partnerships and Community Engagement.  

“I keep hearing about how well connected and passionate the rugby community is in WA and more broadly, how fiercely committed and connected our members and clubs are,” Sarah said. 

“I am looking forward to being amongst that kind of passion, and being part of something that unites us, both on and off the field.” 

 

Liz Fotiou joins RugbyWA with over fifteen years of experience in marketing management, across a range of industries, including local government, energy, and telecoms. Together with senior marketing roles at Western Power, Telstra, Optus and IINET, Liz has also been involved in notable campaigns throughout the state, including the FIFA Women’s World Cup, helping elevate the brand the sport in Western Australia.  

"I’m looking forward to the opportunity to blend my passion for sports with my expertise in marketing to engage fans and boost community interest and registrations, as well as elevate the RugbyWA brand. 

“My goal in this role is to amplify rugby in the state, create memorable experiences for fans, and help build a strong community around our shared love for rugby.” 

 

Oliver Line joins RugbyWA as Logistics Coordinator from Netball WA and West Coast Fever, where he worked as Senior Events Coordinator.  

“I am excited to bring my skills to the forefront while embracing new challenges, building on the Rugby WA events calendar – creating a vibrant, memorable experience for all players, coaches, and spectators.” Oliver said. 

"Looking forward, my focus as the Logistics Coordinator is to be a driving force for the expansion of local rugby clubs in WA. With a collaborative and forward-thinking approach, I aim to understand, support, and enhance Club processes.  

“With this collective approach, my goal is to support and create new memorable environments that align with both players and spectators, fostering a strong community experience and actively contributing to the ongoing growth for Rugby in WA." 

 

Additional key appointments within RugbyWA will see current staff members Jason Marrable and Chris Heiberg take on new roles. 

Jason Marrable will take on the new role of the Regional Manager – Southwest, following his service at RugbyWA as Operations Manager. Marrable will take up his new role, based in Bunbury, in April 2024.

Chris Heiberg has been promoted to Pathways Manager at RugbyWA, following his time as Pathways Coordinator. Heiberg is also the Assistant Coach of Western Force’s Super W Squad and the Head Coach of RugbyWA’s Academy. 

 

Monique Smith will also be joining the RugbyWA office, as Rugby Australia’s Club Development Manager. Monique has extensive experience in the sport and recreation industry, having held various roles in organisations including Football West, Perth Redbacks and Swimming WA, as well as Club Development roles with the City of Canning and the City of Stirling. Monique has also previously worked at RugbyWA as Junior Competition Manager.
