In a departure from the regular Saturday fixture, the Fortescue Women’s Premier Grade will play this Thursday from 7:00PM.

With just two rounds remaining of the regular season, the top four of the Fortescue Women’s Premier Grade remain in close competition, desperately trying to knock the Wanneroo Divaz from their top spot to secure the Minor Premiership.

Round 13 saw some big wins and close games, with Wanneroo clinching a 7-10 victory over Kalamunda, Wests Warriors demolishing Cottesloe Shegulls 78-5, and Palmyra preventing UWA from scoring, finishing the match 52-0.

Following their big win, Palmyra will take on Wanneroo at home this Round, searching for their chance at victory. The last time the two sides met at Tompkins Park, Palmyra secured the powerhouses in a draw, the only deviation in Wanneroo’s straight-win season.

Palmyra saw a big win against UWA this weekend at Tompkins Park, 52-0. Tries for the side were scored by Vesinia Schaaf-Taufa (2’, 25’), Ariana Ruru-Hinaki (6’, 29’), Ocean Tuhua (13’), Phoenix Mahaki (16’) and Gabrielle Canicosa (20’, 23’). Conversions were completed by Ocean Tuhua (2’, 6’, 17’), Phoenix Mahaki (21’, 30’) and Riley Smith (26’).

With the win, Palmyra has firmly secured themselves as third on the Fortescue Women’s Premier Grade ladder. Kalamunda sits just ahead in second position, with Wanneroo at first.

Across at Kalamunda, Wanneroo took down the Kweenz in a tough battle, with a final score of 7-10. Tries for Wanneroo Divaz were scored by Zion Taurima and Litea Marama. For Kalamunda, Wairakau Greig scored one try, with a conversion from Journey Kereopa.

Palmyra will face Wanneroo on Thursday at Tompkins Park. Kickoff is set for 7:30PM.

Wests Warriors are coming off a big win against Cottesloe to face Kalamunda in Round 14.

Whilst Kalamunda are coming off a tight loss to the Divaz, Wests saw an impressive 78-5 win over Cottesloe Shegulls at Bennett Park. Tries for the side were scored by Megan Liddicoat (3’), Brooklyn Joyce (6’, 8’), Hannah Palelei (12’, 18’), Shaniya Ferris-Hogg (20’, 28’, 38’), Andrea Fernandez (22’), Shiho Soneda (26’, 30’) and Cara Gerber (35’). All nine conversions from Wests were completed by Valuese Tiakia (3’, 6’, 8’, 12’, 18’, 20’, 25’, 26’, 30’). For Cottesloe Shegulls, one try was scored by Katie Barnes.

With the win in their pocket, it will be a tough game for the Warriors as they come up against Kalamunda Kweenz. The last time the two sides met in Round 6, Kalamunda defeated the side 21-17, an improvement on the 33-5 defeat Wests suffered at the hands of the Kweenz in Round 4. Sitting fourth on the ladder, they are six points behind Palmyra and searching for a win to push them closer.

Wests Warriors will face Kalamunda Kweenz at Hartfield Reserve at 7:00PM on Thursday night.

Both recovering from big losses, Cottesloe Shegulls and UWA will meet at McGillivray Oval on Thursday night. Sitting at fifth and sixth on the ladder, both sides are desperately looking for a win to push them higher and keep them in contention for the 2024 finals series.

The last time the two sides met in Round 8, UWA found its largest score in the Fortescue Women’s Premier Grade to date, but ultimately suffered defeat to Cottesloe, 20-67.

Cottesloe Shegulls will face UWA at McGillivray Oval at 7:00PM on Thursday.
