After the long weekend bye, Round 8 saw teams hit the ground running as the competition gets closer to splitting into conferences for the rest of 2025.

It was a big weekend at Perth Bayswater, with their Premier Grade team wearing special edition pink jerseys to raise awareness for Breast Cancer, and to celebrate the women in the club. Ahead of their Ladies Day, the club auctioned off the jerseys to raise money for the Breast Cancer Foundation, with the Premier Grade men taking to the field donned in pink as they faced Palmyra.
Four penalty goals from Bayswater tightened the scoreline against Palmyra, but the reigning Minor Premiers’ six tries kept their unbeaten streak alive. In a strong performance from Palmyra across the field, the side walked away with a 24-38 victory over the home side, with Pisi Leilua scoring a hat-trick. For Bayswater, Ethan Heuer held down the fort, scoring all four penalty goals for the side in addition to a conversion, decreasing the score differential significantly.
Tries for Palmyra were scored by Hayden Cooper (4’), Leilua (17’, 41’, 63’), Rhys Morgan (44’) and Braden Stewart (79’), with four conversions from Matt Mckenzie (17’, 41’, 44’, 63’).
Tries for Perth Bayswater were scored by Tama Mason (15’) and Filimone Muavou (31’), with four penalty goals (6’, 23’, 39’, 55’) and one conversion (15’) from Heuer.
For UWA, their victory over Wests Scarborough at home on Saturday was the opportunity to put some much-needed points on the board. After some tough battles in the previous rounds, their Round 8 match against Wests was a reprieve, dominating the game with a 40-12 victory.
With four yellow cards called throughout the game, it was a hard-fought win for the side, with Wests giving as good as they got, even if they fell short at the try line. With six tries to their two, UWA was unstoppable in their third win of the season.
Tries for UWA were scored by Dylan Bronlund (22’), Keaton Kawana (30’, 45’), Zach Oosthuizen (40’), Harrison Lloyd (55’) and Josh Adams (75’), with four conversions from Anthony Hondros (22’, 30’, 40’, 55’) and one conversion from Harri Collier (75’).
