Ellenbrook Vipers Rugby Union Club were crowned SportWest’s RevolutioniseSPORT Community Club of the Year at the 2024 WA Sports Awards on Thursday night.
Ellenbrook Vipers, Kalamunda Districts and RugbyWA were all nominated at the SportsWest Awards on Thursday night, with the Vipers taking home the coveted John Gilmour Medal for RevolutioniseSPORT Community Club of the Year.
The winners of RugbyWA’s 2024 Stephen Fink Award, the Ellenbrook Vipers have displayed commitment to growing the game at a grassroots level, driving community connections and building a long-lasting foundation for success.
The Ellenbrook Vipers are a junior club, fielding teams from U6 through to U16s, in addition to running programs such as the Tiny Tots program for U5s, the Vipers Academy for pre-season development, and RugbyWA’s Get Into Rugby program for increasing participation. Their promotion of a safe environment for all junior participants, as well as the broader community, in addition to their great initiatives, have consistently provided a positive experience to all who attend their trainings and match days.
Throughout the 2024 season, the Vipers upheld best practices in club management, fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for players, families, and volunteers. Their commitment to community connections and ensuring players have the resources for growth stands as a testament to their leadership.

Kalamunda Districts Rugby Union Club was also up for nomination as a finalist in the Healthway Healthy Club of the Year award. The recipient of RugbyWA’s 2024 Champions of Rugby, Kalamunda has displayed a commitment to creating an inclusive, healthy club environment through their active steps to integrate the ‘Alcohol, Think Again’ message into the culture of their club.
Additionally, RugbyWA was named a finalist for Organisation of the Year, for the governing body’s commitment to growing the game and developing Rugby Union within Western Australia.
