The RugbyWA Coaching Series returns with part two of coach development webinars, kicking off with International Rugby League Coach David Waite's take on player development.
In the free webinar the Great Britain rugby league national coach will discuss the significance of graduated learning and talent ID at underage level among other topics surrounding player development.
The former Australian Kangaroo Test player and NRL Coach (Newcastle Knights and St. George-Illawarra) has been instrumental and noted for his expertise in building the foundations of professional clubs including French Super League franchise the Catalans Dragons.
Waite, using his experience in representative coaching looks to help participating coaches to understand their role, referencing various subjects such as talent ID, skill acquisition and learning.
“It is vitally important to have strong foundations at any level of sport to ensure stability and consistency of performance," Waite said.
"I now enjoy sharing those experiences and challenges with aspiring coaches.”
Director of Rugby Steve Anderson commented that skills and knowledge in coach development can cross all forms of the game noting that Waite's vast experience in coaching rugby league will be an invaluable resource for any coach who signs onto the webinar.
"David (Waite) brings a wealth of knowledge at the elite level of the game as a seasoned coach but as with many of our presentations, much can be transferred to all levels of the game," Anderson said.
"I was fortunate have worked with David during our professional careers and his understanding of developing our talented athletes is second to none.”
The live webinar session will air on Zoom on Wednesday the 17th of June at 5:30pm AWST and will be followed by a Q and A session.
