RugbyWA will move into the next generation of leadership as CEO Bob Hunter resigns after successfully rebuilding RugbyWA from the axing of the Western Force

Hunter stepped into the CEO role in November 2017, undaunted by the significant survival challenges as a sporting code in Western Australia.

During Hunter’s tenure he quickly restored a functioning community team, revised budgets, secured new partners as well as tenants for the RugbyWA HQ facility.

To successfully finalize re-build of RugbyWA, Hunter has revised the organisational structure of the company making it continuously self-sustainable for many years after his departure.

One major change is the implementation of Steve Anderson’s new role, transferring his employment from Rugby AU to re-join RugbyWA in a revamped Director of Rugby role.

With RugbyWA now in a strong and consolidating position Hunter feels it is the right time for him to step away from the CEO role and pursue other personal endeavours.

Chairmen of RugbyWA John Edwards personally thanked Bob Hunter for his service to the RugbyWA Community in a letter that was sent out to all stakeholders and club leaders.

“Bob and I started in our current roles about the same week amongst the closing chaos of the legal battles over the Force,” he said.

“I’ve very much enjoyed working alongside Bob through those tough times and in the later years as conditions greatly improved for RugbyWA.”

“I will miss our regular interactions with Rugby Australia, his passion for everything he does and his sense of humour which somehow always shines through.”
