Champions of Rugby - Terms & Conditions

The following terms and conditions set out the contest rules for the 2025 Champion of Rugby Competition, held by RugbyWA and Healthway. 

 

Introduction 

The competition is designed to recognise and reward grassroots rugby clubs that go above and beyond in promoting health, wellbeing and inclusivity, specifically with a strong focus on mental health awareness and Alcohol Think Again messaging.

Promotion Period 

The promotion period commenced on 27 March 2025 and ends on 1 August 2025.  

Prize 

The winning club will receive a $5000 prize to be used for approved projects or goods that support inclusion, wellbeing, and health. 

Eligibility 

This competition is open to all grassroots rugby clubs officially registered and affiliated with RugbyWA for the 2025 season.   

Clubs must be in good standing with RugbyWA at the time of submission and awarding of the prize. 

How to Enter 

  • Document Your Initiatives: Clubs must gather and document evidence of delivering against the Strategy and Actions outlined on the competition entry form throughout the 2025 rugby season.  
  • Submit Your Initiatives: Clubs need to submit proof of their initiatives to RugbyWA twice a year and provide evidence of performing the initiatives against each Action.  
  • Type of Evidence: Accepted evidence includes photographic, email correspondence, social media screenshots, attendance records, training certificates, physical and electronic documents, video recordings, letter of support, surveys, testimonials and policy documents.  

Submission Deadlines:  

  • First Interval: By 6th June 2025 
  • Final Submissions: By 1st August 2025 

 

Evaluation 

Clubs will be awarded points based on the evidence of their initiatives.  

The club with the highest total points across all strategies will be crowned the Champion of Rugby.  

The winner will be announced on 27 August 2025 at the 2025 RugbyWA Awards Breakfast.  

The successful winning club will be published warugby.com.au and will be published across RugbyWA social channels.  

Judging Criteria 

Points will be awarded based on the quality, impact, and comprehensiveness of the initiatives.  

Submissions will be judged by an industry panel of 4 consisting of: 

  1. 1 x RugbyWA representative 
  2. 1 x Healthway representative 
  3. 1 x GoodSport representative  
  4. 1 x SportWest representative  

Specific focus areas include: 

  • Promotion of mental health awareness
  • Promotion of responsible alcohol consumption 
  • Implementation of alcohol-free initiatives 
  • Implementation of mental health initiatives
  • Creation of safe and inclusive environments 
  • Enhancement of player and member wellbeing 
  • Providing an inclusive and safe space for all members 

The judge’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.  

 

General Terms 

By entering the competition, clubs agree to allow RugbyWA to use their submissions, including photographs and videos, for promotional purposes.  

The prize must be used for projects or goods that support inclusion, wellbeing, and health within the club and must be approved by RugbyWA and Healthway.  

RugbyWA reserves the right to verify the eligibility of all entries.  

RugbyWA reserves the right to modify these terms and conditions at any time. 

By participating in the "Champions of the Rugby" campaign, clubs acknowledge and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
