The Chair and President of Rugby WA each play important but distinct roles on the RugbyWA Board .
The role of President is a conduit between our member clubs and the Board, championing and representing the rugby community, communicating with the Clubs and redirecting relevant issues of the Clubs to the Board.
The Chair provides leadership to the Board, ensuring that the Board’s processes and actions are consistent with its policies, resulting in sound directorship. The Chair also represents the Board and Rugby WA to external stakeholders, including government, partners and Rugby Australia, using their influence and network for the promulgation of the sport.
One of the Boards most important responsibilities is to ensure its structure and composition reflects best practice for sporting organisations. This includes maintaining a balance of skills, experience and perspectives necessary to effectively discharge its duties, deliver the organisation’s strategy, and achieve the best possible outcomes for rugby in Western Australia.
To support this, the Board ensures that the composition and skill set of the Board is reviewed annually, reflecting the needs of the organisation and its strategic goals. This review encompasses items such as diversity in skills, experience and gender.
