The UWA Western Force Cup 7s Finals kicked off yesterday, with six schools from across Perth competing for the coveted top place.
Off the back of two successful gala days, six schools from across the Perth metropolitan area gathered at McGillivray Oval in Mount Claremont to battle it out for the UWA Western Force Cup.
The competing schools from the Northern Hub included Aranmore Catholic College, Shenton College and John XXIII College and from the Southern Hub included King’s College, Mother Teresa Catholic College, and Thornlie Senior High School.
It was a sweeping success for Aranmore Catholic College, who dominated the competition, winning the final across all three divisions and age groups.
In both the boys' divisions, Aranmore beat Thornlie Senior High School to win the Cup. Aranmore’s 8/9’s team defeated Thornlie 26 – 10, whilst the Aranmore 10/11’s came through with a strong win of 36/10.
In the girls’ division, Aranmore’s 8/9’s side dominated, defeating King’s College 38-0, following a strong performance throughout the day.
The players were visited by Western Force players Izack Rodda, Mitch Watts and Ronan Leahy, who presented the winning teams with their medals, as well as handing out matchday tickets to all students involved in the carnival.
Thank you to the Western Force crew for coming down to help with the day, Nephi from RugbyWA who coordinated the day, the medical staff from Rescue1 Recovery, and all school staff involved in both the lead-up and the day. The competition was a massive success – congratulations to all schools involved!
