Tri Tag will kick off competition in WA tomorrow night!
Rugby Australia’s new, non-contact rugby format, Tri Tag is set to commence competition at Curtin, Wanneroo and UWA over the next two nights.
After featuring in Rugby Australia’s Gold Blooded Tour in August, as well as during half time at the Wallabies v. Springboks at Optus Stadium, the launch will see participants get to develop their rugby skills and play with their mates throughout the Spring and Summer periods.
“RugbyWA is looking forward to the introduction of Tri Tag to our rugby community,” RugbyWA General Manager – Rugby, Dane Lazarus, said.
“The format offers the opportunity for everyone to get involved, whether they're a seasoned professional wanting to keep their skills sharp or are brand new to the sport. Everyone can get involved.”
Tri Tag Rugby is a minimal contact, low injury risk, attack-based rugby union game that incorporates the skill set and fabric of rugby. The format offers a safe, inclusive, and fast-paced alternative to the traditional game.
It embraces all the aspects that make Rugby Union unique; scrums, lineouts, and the breakdown, but does so in a way that is fun and accessible for all participants, regardless of skill or experience.
Open to seniors and juniors, Tri Tag will be open for participation at Curtin Uni RFC, UWA Rugby and Wanneroo Districts RFC from this week.
Registrations are open for both teams and individuals - wa.rugby/participate/tritag/register.
