All Rugby Community Stakeholders,

Rugby WA Board Announcement

Under the Rugby WA Constitution, the Board has been reviewing its composition and the requirements to comply with our Constitution and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC).

Community Rugby is well represented with members Trevor Cook, Gillian Forde, Craig Fairhall and our President Francis Williams all being elected from Club pathways. With the current formation of the board having eight members, Under the RugbyWA constitution, the board can appoint up to four ordinary appointed members. As a result, it is with pleasure that the Board has unanimously agreed to the appointment of Niamh O’Connor to the Board with immediate effect. The skillset that Niamh will bring to the Rugby community will be invaluable.

Niamh was born in Ireland and inherited her love of rugby from her family. In 2011, Niamh and her family emigrated to Western Australia where she quickly got involved in the Rugby scene. It wasn’t long until Niamh was involved in the local WA rugby club, University of Western Australia, where her son still plays. At the club, she has held many roles from Team Manager to sitting on the junior rugby club committee for three years.

Outside of rugby, Niamh has forged a career in construction where she has held positions such as project manager and project director, whilst being responsible for leading projects valued at over $1b. Niamh is an experienced company director with huge focus on social outcomes coupled with a deeply engrained love of rugby.

Yours in Rugby

John Edwards Chairman
