RugbyWA Community update on the status of COVID-19

RugbyWA has released the following statement in regards to the actions and steps taken by the sport in relation to the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Dear RugbyWA Community

Many of you will have seen the attached advice from Global Rapid Rugby (GRR) with regard the current situation in relation to the challenging environment we find ourselves in with regard COVID-19 pandemic.

Obviously this is a significant decision driven by the international nature of the Competition.

In terms of our community game and the immediate term please understand that the following is occurring with regard Rugby WA Community operations at all levels.

  1. Dialogue with State Government authorities at DLGSC (Dept Sport) on actions expected at state level with regard community sport.
  2. Rugby AU conducting a national conference amongst CEO/Community Rugby leaders Monday 16th March.
  3. Rugby WA Board will convene a similar planning meeting early this week to review Rugby WA community options. Key stakeholders will also be invited to input.
  4. Contingency planning and options relevant to Community Rugby are being developed to assist in making balanced and appropriate decisions. 

In the meantime please rest assured there will be clear communications to all levels once formal directions/plans are made
