The Joondalup Brothers Rugby Club has announced that 2019 assistant coach Adam Munro will step up into the head coaching role for the 2020 Joondalup Brothers Fortescue Premier Grade side.
Former head coach David Wells will move into the Director of Rugby role at the club giving Munro the opportunity to step up and take full leadership of the playing side come 2020.
“Our succession plan was to bring Adam into the role from next season and he is excited to be taking the reins from Dave”, said senior president Anthony Wall.
“Adam added great value to the set up in 2019 as the premier grade assistant coach, he is also in his second year as the State 15’s head coach.”
“Adam has built a wonderful rapport with the playing group over the past season and has worked closely with the club’s young guns that have transitioned into the top grades this season.”
Before now Well’s had coached the club’s top side since 2014, a stint spanning six seasons and has been integral in the club’s transition from third grade to the premier grade competition.
His appointment as Director of Rugby will see him implement a “Whole of Club” coaching structure as he focusses on the development and education of the clubs coaching group along with overseeing the clubs junior and senior academies.
Wells is also a product of the Brothers pathway having coached all through the juniors, into colts moving to the club’s top side.
“This was a natural progression for Dave (Wells), he had assumed many of the roles that come with the DOR job over the past few seasons and we know that Dave is very excited to continue to develop our coaches and young players”, said Wall.
“Both appointments are testament to the Brothers commitment in providing pathways for both players and coaches alike.”
The Joondalup Brothers Rugby Union Club will be looking to appoint additional coaches for their Premier, Reserve and Colts teams for 2020, if you are interested please send your Rugby CV to directorofrugby@joondalupbrothers.com.
