After their recent tour across to the east coast, the RugbyWA U18’s touring team displayed discipline and skill as they took on teams in highly anticipated games.
The games provided players with a greater depth of experience as they took to the field with a number of high calibre players from NSW and ACT.
Departing on the Thursday and returning on the Sunday evening, the weekend was packed full of development and testing moments for the team. Players, who were selected from across a number of schools and clubs across the state gave it their all as their skills and techniques were put under pressure on the tour.
Team Coach, Dave Wells went on to comment on the weekend.
“The growth and development of the squad was impressive throughout the program while on tour.”
“We had a very young squad; it’s not always about winning but rather the opportunity for players to challenge themselves against other top players.
“ The big focus is on their own personal development in being part of an elite program and developing their skills and rugby IQ.”
The team of young up and coming players played against the NSW and Canberra squads in hopes of making their mark in the rugby community as they set to show the skill that WA has to offer.
Going head-to-head against the NSW U18’s Invitational and U18 Brumbies, the RugbyWA team took the win against the NSW Invitational team 43 26 but unfortunately lost against the ACT Brumbies finishing the game 21-13. After a strong battle, the team were unable to grasp the win, following their victory against the U18's Invitational.
After an intense and challenging weekend, players wrapped up the tour displaying growth and experience in skill and play as they represented the state.
