Rugby 7s
Since the Australian women won gold at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, the sport here in Australia has seen an immediate drive by all state unions to build pathways within their Community Rugby programs.

The game of sevens rugby itself is fast, exciting, and dynamic played by only 7 players on each side with each half played for only 7 minutes. With players enjoying extra space to work in, individual flare and fancy footwork gave life to a new version of running rugby where more tries were scored and skill, timing and agility were key.

Rugby commentators have said that there’s no reason why Australia can’t become as successful at the Olympics in sevens rugby as it has been in the Rugby World Cup tournaments. The chance of being an Olympian – and, hopefully, a medal winner, will no doubt be spurring on a number of current professional rugby players.

Sevens is more than just a game, it’s a festival of rugby with the off field entertainment as impressive as on field there is no reason everyone can’t be involved!
