Fortescue Premier Grade live stream fixture
Curtin Uni vs Joondalup Brothers, Edinburgh Oval. Dumas Rd, Bentley. Kick off at 3:30 pm.
Making their debut in the Fortescue Premier Grade the Curtin University Goats will be kicking off at home in round one against a tough Joondalup Brothers outfit.
After finishing the Premier Grade in sixth place last year Joondalup will be keen to hit the ground running this season to rectify missing a trip to the finals in 2018. Fly-half Sheldon Tarawa will be leading the ‘Brothers’ this season as last year’s captain Johann Louw has been called overseas on a professional contract. Missing out of the front row will be two Future Force stars Liam Gourlie and Victor Harris as they pull on the green and gold to represent the classic Wallabies in Hong Kong.

Kalamunda vs Palmyra, Hartfield Park. Morrison Road, Forrestfield. Kick off at 3:30 pm
Out at Hatfield park this weekend it will be the two runner ups fighting it out to get their first win on the board. Premiership Division runner up Kalamunda will be looking to back up an extremely successful 2018 season confident they will be able to get over the top of a young Palmyra outfit in the first round. With last year’s coach of the year Grant Oakley moving on from the bulls assistant coach Kane Allen has moved into the top job ready to lead his team to another grand final appearance.
A lot of young talent from Palmyra’s cup winning reserve grade side will be making the journey up into the Premier Grade this year bolstering an already talented championship division finalist side. Future Force star Micheal McDonald will be a player to watch at the halfback position his skill to deliver the ball is unmatched in the competition.
Cottesloe vs Wests Scarborough, Harvey Field. Broome Street, Cottesloe. Kick off at 3:30 pm
In one of the bigger matches of the round, semi-finalists Wests Scarborough will head to ‘the nest’ this weekend to take on a transformed Cottesloe side.
The Gulls will run out quite a new looking team with a lot of handy additions coming into the squad. Former UWA centre Tamba Lebbie will pull on a baby blue number 13 jersey this weekend looking to impress at his new club. Long time Cott captain Kieran Stringer is out to start the competition giving hooker Gafa Su’a an opportunity to step up to the plate and captain his side.
Heavyweights Wests Scarborough are running out an impressive starting lineup in round one including a lot of new young prospects. Future Force players Nika Morehu and Brody Macaskill will be key factors in the squad as well as a new young addition at fly-half in Lochie Hardy brother of Queensland Red and former Future Force athlete Jack Hardy.
Nedlands vs Associates, The Foreshore. Cnr Broadway & Esplanade, Nedlands. Kick-off 3:30 pm.
In an additional heavyweight match up to start the season, central rivals Nedlands and Associates will battle it out down at the Foreshore to gain the upper hand early.
Reigning premiers Associates Rugby Club have a somewhat similar squad to last years with a couple of new additions pulling on the green and gold. State schoolboy and U18s player Riki Wylie has moved up into the starting lineup for ‘Soaks’ the young colt will be starting on the right wing for his team looking to make an impact in his debut Premier Grade game.
Starting at home Nedlands Rugby Club will be keen to knock-off the premiers in their first match, dynamic fullback Kauri Cudd returns to the team after having a small stint playing overseas.
UWA vs Coastal Cavaliers, McGillivray Oval. Brockway Road, Mount Claremont. Kick-off at 3:30 pm.
UWA will be looking to repeat the start of their 2018 season this year winning the first four games, However coming up against a well improved Coastal Cavaliers side a first-round win might not be as easy as it would appear for UWA.
Former Western Force front rower Harry ‘Rusty’ Scoble will be captaining the UWA side rallying his troops together early to get ample amount of players together down at the Library during the pre-season.
As for the Cavs they will be looking to improve on their debut season last year, now comfortable in the competition they are ready to take on anything that is thrown at them in 2019.
Perth Bayswater vs Southern Lions, Pat O’Hara Reserve. Wellington Road, Morley. Kick off at 3:30 pm.
Finally, Pat O’hara reserve will spark up again this weekend not since hosting the 2018 Premier Grade finals series now being the stage of the ‘Numbats’ first-round stint against a new looking Southern Lions side.
Not a lot is known about the new Southern Lion’s side with a lot of new faces entering the club. Brad Fell will captain the side yet again looking to get the season started off well against fellow Championship Division finisher Perth Bayswater now lead by well-respected coach Brendan Loag.
Wanneroo vs ARKs, Kingsway Reserve. Spectator Drive, Madeley. Kick off at 3:30 pm.
To finish up an exciting set of first-round matchups Championship Division winners the Wanneroo Roodogs will take on ARKs rugby club up at Kingsway Reserve. Coming off a brilliant comeback victory from last year the ‘Roo-Dogs’ has stuck with the same core set of players led by longtime captain Andrew King.
With the rumour out that they’ve done a fair bit of successful recruiting over the summer, ARKs rugby club could immerge as the dark horse in round one and surprise the competition by coming out and putting on a show up at Wanneroo.
No matter the results the changeup in this year’s Fortescue Premier Grade has made it impossible to guess how the competition will kick-off and it will be intersesting to see who will emerge the leaders out of round one.
