The Albany Junior 7s took place over the weekend with teams from both down south and the Perth metro area coming together for a full two-day event of sevens rugby.

Hosted by Albany Junior Rugby club the Albany Junior 7s took place at the Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre and had a total of 12 both country and metro clubs attend the event.

RugbyWA development officers alongside Wests Scarborough and Western Force prop Dom Hardman made the drive down to Albany to assist.

RugbyWA regional development manager Dane Lazarus overwhelmed with the support and growth of the game in the great southern region.

“To see over 40 Albany junior rugby players running around on the weekend was a great sight and just reward for all the work the local rugby members are putting in to make rugby a sport anyone can come to.”

“The clubs from metro Perth must also be commended for attending the event in such large numbers and allowing the Great Southern Region to experience the tournament atmosphere over two days.”

“The hope is for this tournament to continue to grow and provide a post season event for juniors for years to come.”

The event was a great success and RugbyWA would like to commend Albany Junior Rugby Club for their work in organizing the tournament along with their continued efforts to grow the game in the Great Southern Region.
