In a thrilling weekend of rugby, round 13 wraps up with Cottesloe sitting on top with Associates and Wanneroo clinging onto top six positions.

After a thrilling 18-10 Cottesloe victory the home side secured the top spot on the table leading Nedlands by one point.

Most of the work was done in the first half for Cottesloe as the home team drew first blood with Simione Vuetiverata putting the ball down under the sticks.

There was a very quick reply to come as fly-half Ethan Riley took the ball into the try square for Wanneroo, tying up the game once again with an easy conversion that followed.

Tamba Lebbie was a force in the game, scoring Cottesloe’s second try to put them back in the lead around the 33-minute mark.

Both kickers looked to tackle the Harvey Field wind taking penalty shots when they came, fullback Ben Meredith came out on top nailing two penalties to Wanneroo Fly-half Ethan Reilly’s one.

It was a fairly back and forth affair to finish the game with Wanneroo taking a long penalty to try and trim the lead, unfortunately missing to go down by eight points.

Wanneroo looked in doubt of a Premiership Division place however, ARK’s one-point victory over Palmyra boosts the ‘Roo-Dogs’ into the final spot in the top six.

ARKs also retain the RugbyWA Cup for the second time meaning they will now defend the cup in all of their games, home and away.

Falling to seventh place Palmyra will now play in their second year in the Championship Division.

Due to the new finals structure the Championship Division finals will be played between the top two Championship teams and the bottom two Premiership teams.

Also trying to avoid a championship division placing Associates put a hammering down on Southern Lions putting a massive 92 points on the home team.

It was the final game of the year for Soaks captain and long-time club legend Dean Taylor-Menzies before he goes to the UK to play higher grade rugby.

The team seemed to rise off the moment putting on a brilliant show of rugby, creating a margin big enough to elevate them to fifth spot on the ladder.

In other results around the Premier Grade UWA did a number on Joondalup winning 61 to 12, Kalamunda got the win over Perth Bayswater on the road and Wests Scarborough beat Curtin University.

Nedlands also just scraped away with a win over Coastal Cavaliers in a thriller, Nedlands were able to deny a game sealing try for Coastal Cavaliers as well as taking the winning try for themselves in the final minutes of the game.

Aaron Evans delivered the first blow for Nedlands, scoring in the corner to put his team up by 6 points.

Nedlands put on a defensive show to follow desperately trying to hold the Cavs on their own line, the final whistle blowing as prop Paulo Nu'u was held up over the line finish the game with a final score of Coastal Cavaliers 13 to Nedlands 19.

As the Premier Grade ladder stands the competition will now split into the two division with the top six heading into Premiership Division and bottom eight heading into the Championship Division.

Games will be fixtured and released soon.
